God is Still God
The statement “God is still God, no matter what”, is a favorite statement of one
of our faithful church attendees among the different facilities that we hold
chapel services. During one of our monthly prison services for December we
experienced that great truth in a very special way.
In these services none of the inmates are required to attend. All of the inmates
in what they call population are given the opportunity to come. Some come to
receive from the church service, and unfortunately others come for various
reasons that do not add harmony to a worshipful atmosphere. Some seem to use the
chapel service as a time to meet with friends and carry on conversations and so
forth.
At this particular prison we usually average one-
hundred to one-hundred and fifty in our monthly services.
On this December night the attendance was two-hundred and nine. We praised the
Lord for such a good turn out,
but at the same time we were aware of the possibilities of irreverent
distractions.
The service was opened with prayer and with a few comments of request for
reverence (this has not always helped). We began singing with a calm that can
only be explained by a move of God as the service progressed.
While I preached, on the subject “He Shall Save His People From Their Sins” many
hearts was touched and the calm continued throughout the meeting. Without a
doubt we can say of this service, “God is still God, no matter what”.
Un-churched, Yet Healed, and Saved
Our hearts was blessed and encouraged in an other service through a testimony of
God’s great mercy, grace,
and healing power. Prior to this service an inmate shared with us of how God led
him to lay hands on and pray for another inmate who was in an education class
with him.
This inmate of around 55 years of age had been sick with various and serious
health issues unto death. He obeyed the leading of the Spirit and God did a
work.
The inmate who had been sick went to medical to test his blood work and so forth
and when the results came back they told him he was in perfect health. In the
service he testified that he had never been to church in his life until that
night. Thanking God for healing and salvation his desire is to serve him the
rest of his life.
This is one example of many that we minister to in the prisons that have no
church background. Even though they may come to prison un-churched and in sin
they can leave saved and healed by the power of God.
A New Year with
New Opportunities
New services have been scheduled for River Bend Correctional Institute in
Milledgeville, Georgia. Since this is a private owned prison, we will have to go
through their orientation. As soon as this is completed we will begin these
monthly meetings. Other new prison services are pending to open unto us in the
near future.
As we say in most of our newsletters, thank you to all who give support to this
work. With the increase of office supplies, postage, and travel expenses we are
ever grateful for all that you do.
If you are not a supporter of this mission and would like to be, please feel
free to give us a call or write us for more information. Jesus is coming soon.
Pray for us as we take the gospel to those who can not come to us.
All for His Glory,

“Dark the night of sin has settled, loud the angry billows roar;
Eager eyes are watching, longing, for the lights along the shore.
Let the lower lights be burning, send a gleam across the wave!
Some poor fainting struggling seaman, you may rescue, you may save.”
